Translations Engineer

General Description

This position will be responsible for SONUS and LCS translations maintenance and design, complex trouble isolation and resolution, in depth routing configuration.  Requires the ability to diagnose and resolve anomalies in a multi-node network.  Effectively communicate with co-workers and customers alike.

Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex routing schema utilizing both TDM and ‘VOIP switching infrastructure
  • Monitor work-in-progress within all databases, for timely performance of procedures and activities related to delivery of service, within established intervals.
  • Ensure best in practice procedures are followed and adhered to, develop new processes where needed
  • Handle routing escalations expediently and efficiently, mindful of downstream impact.
  • Directly interface with vendors in troubleshooting and resolution of switching network events
  • Provide trouble shooting support to network operations and assist in training as appropriate
  • Maintain database with current information regarding status of routing orders – to include: confirmation dates, order numbers, NPA-NXX’s and routes
  • Maintain high level routing diagrams and IMT policies.
  • Consistently meets HyperCube, LLC expectations of teamwork and attitude.  Regular and reliable attendance.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Prior ILEC/CLEC/RLEC experience required to be documented on the resume
  • Knowledge of industry terms and practices in the areas of switching, complex translations and network interconnection practices
  • Extensive experience in SS7 and SIP as well as signaling interworking via STP’s, SCP’s
  • Advanced PC skills to include MS Office suite of products with emphasis on MS Excel, PowerPoint and MS Access
  • Programming experience a plus, Perl, Java, SQL
  • Exhibits a high level of initiative, leadership, and resourcefulness
  • Excellent organizational skills with frequent multi-tasking abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with a high energy level
  • Work effectively without supervision
  • Prioritize and balance multiple projects and tasks

Education Requirements

Required: High School Diploma

Preferred: Bachelors Degree and/or 5 to 7+ years experience in telecommunications
